Breeze Airways to end flights from Mobile International Airport
Reading time: 1 minute
Breeze Airways will cease operations from Mobile International Airport by the end of January.
The airline’s departure leaves the new downtown airport without commercial airline service.
In January 2024 Breeze announced the April 2024 launch of two flights from Mobile to Orlando and Providence, R.I.
Billed as the ‘Nice Low Cost Carrier,’ Breeze fares on the new routes started from $39 one-way.
This winter, several low-cost airlines have been struggling nationwide including Spirit Airlines that filed for bankruptcy in November 2024.
Busy year in Mobile despite Breeze Airways departure
Despite Breeze Airway’s exit, according to the airline industry publication Travel and Tour World, the Mobile Airport Authority plans to finish the new $381 million, five gate terminal within the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley later this year or in early 2026.
The Authority will also move legacy carriers American Airlines, Delta, and United from the Mobile Regional Airport to the Mobile International Airport which is much closer to Mobile’s downtown financial and entertainment districts.
