In just one season at Jacksonville State, Cam Cook wrote his name into the Gamecock record books.

Now, the star running back is headed back to a bigger stage for his final year of eligibility, joining former Jax State coach Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia next season.

Cook led the country in rushing yards (1,659) and yards from scrimmage (1,945) during the 2025 season. His rushing yard mark is the second most by a Jax State running back in program history, falling just short of Troymaine Pope’s record from 2015.

Cook earned three All-American honors including:

  • Associated Press Second Team
  • Football Writers Association of America Second Team
  • Sporting News Third Team

During the 2025 season, Cook rushed for at least 100 yards in 10 of 13 games including a 218-yard performance, the sixth most in a game in Jax State’s history.

Cook finished the season with 16 total touchdowns, scoring at least one in each of his final 10 games with the Gamecocks.

Jacksonville State had the fifth best rushing offense in the country in 2025, running for 246.7 yards per game and scoring 32 total touchdowns on the ground.

The Gamecocks were the only team in the country to have two 1,000-yard rushers this season with Cook being joined by quarterback Caden Creel.
