As one of the many lucky people that grew up on the Coosa, I’m excited to see that Camp Coosa is back in action. Keep reading to find out how you can attend this spectacular adventure.

Brought to you by Coosa Riverkeeper and the Alabama Beta, Camp Coosa is bringing back the adventure camp for outdoor lovers. You can expect this event to feature outdoor activities that vary in difficulty, so no matter your skill level there will be something for you to do.

  • When: This summer, July 15-17
  • Sign up on May 16

Each activity is worth a different amount of points you or a team can rack up to get amazing prizes including awesome gear and a hand-painted paddle from Hank’s Bait Shop.

A team can be just you or a group of 2-5 people. You’ll score points by uploading pics and videos to Instagram with specific hashtags when completing a task.

  • Noccalula trail or waterfall
  • Paddle Big Wills Outfitters
  • Climb Gadrock in Gadsden
  • Beer at Back Forty Beer Company in Gadsden

Camp Coosa’s theme this year is Wet and Wild.

What all does this entail?

Essentially, it is a 3-day summer camp where you can hang with friends on the trails or bask in the sun on the water. You and your team will explore the exciting outdoor activities that the Coosa River basin has to offer.

  • Friday, July 15—Opening Ceremonies at Coldwater Brewpub in Anniston.
  • Saturday, July 16—Night Camp-Out at Cherokee Rock Village.
  • Sunday, July 17—Sunday Night Awards at Back Forty Beer Company in Gadsden.
