Back in 2021, Mobile residents came up with a creative, crowd-free way to celebrate Mardi Gras: the Mobile Porch Parade. Now in its third year, the 2023 Mobile Porch Parade includes more than 90 stops. Keep reading for all the details.
But first, a little history
Mobile resident Suzanne Sarver had the idea for the Mobile Porch Parade in January 2021. Even though parades were canceled because of the pandemic, she wanted her neighbors to have a reason and a way to celebrate carnival and Mardi Gras.
Stacy Wellborn quickly became involved, and continues to be the Mobile Porch Parade’s spokesperson. Read below for our coverage of the first two parades:

The map for the 2023 Mobile Porch Parade
If you click on the gold pin points on the map, you’ll see pictures of the homes and businesses that have made donations to the 2023 Mobile Porch Parade’s nonprofit beneficiary.
Purple pins are other decorated homes and businesses, so you’ve got plenty of spots to check out.
Mobile Area Special Olympics: the 2023 Mobile Porch Parade nonprofit beneficiary
One of the founders’ goals for the Mobile Porch Parade is to raise money for local nonprofits that make a direct, positive impact on the community at the hyperlocal level.
This year’s beneficiary is the Mobile Area Special Olympics. Their mission is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate.
