When March comes around — and it’s just in a matter of weeks — folks in Alabama like to get outdoors, and what better way to experience the best that Alabama has to offer by taking a few hikes through some of the state’s most scenic spots.
While this is by no means a complete list of all of the great hikes Alabama has to offer, here are some scheduled hikes you may enjoy in March:
March 2 – Bingo Hike at Cheaha State Park
Bring your observation skills on this hike and play to win prizes by playing nature bingo at Cheaha State Park, one of the state’s best views.

March 8 – Sunset hikes Joe Wheeler State Park
Join Park naturalist Jennings Earnest for a chat and hike to find the perfect sunset. Watch as the sun melts into the Tennessee River.

March 9 – Hickory Cove Nature Preserve
Take this guided hike along the Land Trust of North Alabama’s newest preserve, Hickory Cove Nature Preserve. This hike will show you some of the beauty this hillside has to offer.

March 16 – Desoto State Park
One of the most picturesque spots in the entire state is Desoto State Park in DeKalb County. Desoto Falls, the rich Native American history of the area and some incredible scenery make this one of the best hikes in Alabama.

March 23 – Monte Sano Nature Preserve
The Land Trust of North Alabama is hosting a guided hike through Monte Sano Nature Preserve, with special attention paid to the wildflowers found in this area of the preserve during March.
