Bonchon is on a mission, “to share the joy of Korean comfort food around the world” (Bonchon’s website). With their newly-announced expansion into Alabama, they’re one step closer to achieving that goal. Here’s what you need to know.
What Bonchon is all about
Bonchon, which means “my hometown” in English, is known for their Korean chicken wings, which have a lot of flavor and (most important) a lot of crunch. They hand-bread and double-fry their chicken for the signature texture, and then hand-brush it in sauce.
However, the Korean comfort food doesn’t stop there. Here are some of the other items you’ll find at their many locations across the world:
- Bulgogi fries
- Postickers
- Popcorn shrimp
- Bibimbap
- Mochi
- Korean donuts

Jinduk Seo, Bonchon’s founder, perfected the signature chicken and sauces, and it was a success from the start. “When police were dispatched to manage traffic around the new restaurant, I knew we had a winning formula” (Bonchon’s website).
Bonchon’s expansion into Alabama
According to a press release from Bonchon, the franchise is planning to open five new locations in Alabama. They plan to start opening the locations in 2024. Stay tuned for more updates on locations and exact opening dates!
