Construction on the newest high school campus for Montgomery Public Schools is officially underway.
Percy Julian High School, which was renamed in 2022, is one of the largest schools in the Montgomery metro. It’s one of just six schools at the 6A classification level with at least 1,000 students.
Now, the city is providing the building and facilities needed for a school that size.
“This project represents more than just bricks and mortar, it’s a promise to our scholars, families, and community that we are committed to providing world-class learning environments. The new Percy L. Julian High School will serve as a symbol of pride, progress, and potential for generations to come. We are incredibly thankful to our Board and stakeholders for making this vision a reality.”

Doster Construction Company, based in Birmingham, officially started construction on the project earlier this month.
The modern high school campus is designed to enhance educational resources and opportunities for students in the area. It will be located near the intersection of Todd Road and North Eastern Blvd in northeast Montgomery.
The new campus will include:
- Advanced classrooms
- Collaborative learning spaces
- Performing arts center
- Athletic facilities
- Dedicated areas for career and technical education
The goal is to provide a more dynamic and flexible environment for student learning and development.
