It was undoubtedly a struggle in Columbia over the weekend but No. 4 Alabama reeled of 15 unanswered points to cap off a comeback victory against South Carolina.
The road win was enough to keep the Crimson Tide in the top four of the latest AP Poll but with 1-3 remaining undefeated, there was no room to move up.

AP Top 25
This is the 288th consecutive poll Alabama has appeared in, extending the second longest streak in college football history. They need 60 more appearances without a break to match Nebraska’s record which lasted from 1981-2002.
The Crimson Tide is the highest ranked team with a loss to its record. Alabama is also the highest ranked team without any first-place votes.
Here’s the full Top 10 from the latest rankings with first-place votes in parentheses:
- Ohio State (54)
- Indiana (11)
- Texas A&M (1)
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Oregon
- Ole Miss
- Georgia Tech
- Vanderbilt
- BYU + Miami (tied)
While most voters put Alabama fourth on their ballots, the Tide ranked as high as 2 by two different voters and as low as 6 on three ballots.
The SEC currently has nine teams ranked in the top 25 with Alabama already playing against four of them with one more—No. 18 Oklahoma—still left on the schedule.
College Football Playoff rankings
Alabama heads into a bye week before hosting LSU on Nov. 8. Between now and then, the season’s first College Football Playoff rankings will be released, giving college football fans a slightly better idea of where their favorite teams stand in the race for a national championship.
As of now, it seems likely Alabama will be in the initial top four which would give the Tide a bye into the quarterfinals. Alabama remains the only team in the country with two Top 10 wins on its resume.
The first CFP rankings come out Tuesday, Nov. 4 with a show on ESPN at 7PM.
