Culinary star, Jack White, has an amazing background in the food styling industry that led to a popular restaurant in Florence, Alabama — Jack’s Place Bistro. We talked with White to find out the inside scoop on his journey from Hollywood star to prestigious Alabama chef.
Who is Jack White?
Jack White has been in the food industry for most of his life. After finishing college at the University of North Alabama (UNA) in Florence, the Pulaski, Tennessee native relocated to Nashville and worked for the Hyatt Regency before moving to New York. Here, he worked for the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central Station in Manhattan alongside popular chefs.
His first film, Doing time on Maple Drive, is where his career really took off. During his career, he worked on over 100 feature films and TV episodes as both an actor and food stylist.

White also got to prepare food for the Hunger Games Series, creating beautiful buffet tables of food for the film. One of the coolest parts was that he got to invite UNA culinary students to the set.
Jack’s Place Bistro
In 2018, White started his own restaurant, Jack’s Bistro Place in Florence. The restaurant is located in the city’s downtown and features an American-based menu. Locally he’s most known for his savory Chicken Tikka Masal and slow-cooked Pork Shanks. During his time in Florence, White fell in love with the quiet life. So, he decided to make his permanent home there.
With a specially-crafted menu of his most favorite foods, White says he prepares large amounts of just about everything on his restaurant menu for customers.
