Elevation, the Equal Justice Initiative’s (EJI) new hotel, art gallery, theater, research center and convening space has opened in Montgomery today.

Elevation offers dining and hospitality

“We are very excited and proud to announce the opening of Elevation. By converting an abandoned structure that has been deteriorating for decades into something beautiful, we hope to provide refuge and comfort to the thousands of people who visit our Legacy Sites and strengthen Montgomery’s economic health and cultural landscape.”

Bryan Stevenson, EJI executive director

Located at 600 Montgomery Street, Montgomery, Alabama, the Elevation Convening Center and Hotel includes the following amenities:

On Saturday evening, October 11, as part of its Art and Justice programming and in celebration of Elevation’s opening, EJI will bring together jazz and classical saxophonist Branford Marsalis and cellist Yo-Yo Ma, a United Nations Messenger of Peace, for an unforgetable evening.

According to EJI, the concert is sold out but interested parties can sign up here to learn more about organization’s Art and Justice events in the future.

Next up at the EJI

The next big project for EJI is the opening in February 2026 of Montgomery Square, the newest Legacy Site.

The new destination will detail the Montgomery decade that changed the world from 1955 to 1965. Sculpture, art, new research, and first person narratives will introduce Montgomery residents who are not well known but played a pivotal role in advancing civil rights in America.
