Mobile is known for her lively and artistic people. As the weather starts to heat up, many local artists, makers, and creators are taking to outdoor, festival-style markets to sell their wares.

These markets work really well for sellers and buyers–an outdoor inherently distanced space where you can meet local business owners and interact with the community. Mobile’s picturesque weather is just the cherry on top! We’ve rounded up 4 of these can’t-miss outdoor markets for your springtime shopping (maybe even to go Mother’s Day gift shopping?)

1. LoDa ArtWalk

LoDa ArtWalk is a monthly event in the Lower Dauphin (LoDa) arts district. On the second Friday of any given month, from 6 until 9 pm, a generous section of Dauphin Street is cordoned off, and a miniature art festival takes place. All the cool art galleries downtown open their doors for exploration–free of charge. You’ll also find some cool festival-style booths featuring local makers selling various things–art prints, jewelry, homemade soaps, etc.

2. Mobile Flea Market

This one is a classic for Mobilians. Touted as the “largest flea market on the gulf coast,” you’re sure to find something interesting at the Mobile Flea Market. They’re open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 am until 5 pm, with over 800 booths! The flea market is like a fun scavenger hunt for everything from your local Avon lady to vintage (and a bit rusty!) tools.

3. Market in the Park

If you’re looking for home-grown fruits and veggies, the Market in the Park is the perfect weekend morning plan for you! The Spring Market in the Park is actually going to be held in two locations, on two different days, this year–so plenty of opportunities to check it out!

On Saturdays at Cathedral Square downtown, the market runs from May 8- July 17 from 7:30 am until noon. If you’re not an early riser–no worries! This year, there will also be a market operating out of Trinity Gardens Park on Thursdays from 3-6 pm.

4. The Market at Serda Brewing

Love craft beer, live music, and good vibes? Check out the Market at Serda Brewery downtown. The market takes place on the last Sunday of the month from 12 pm until 5 pm. There are over 60 booths filled with goodies like ceramics, jewelry, clothing, and more! Tons of local vendors revisit monthly as well, so you can form an awesome relationship with local businesses here as well.

The experience at the Market at Sera Brewing is unmissable! The small-ish setting makes it feel intimate–while the music, booths, and generally cool stuff make it fun for the whole family.

The weather in Mobile will not be this temperate for long, so check out these awesome outdoor maker’s markets before it becomes absolutely sweltering. Plus, who doesn’t love supporting local businesses in the process?
