In 2021, Fairhope’s food scene suffered a loss when R Bistro closed. However, the family-owned spot known for its Southern cuisine—and Southern hospitality—is returning. Here’s what you need to know.

The new R Bistro

The former location of R Bistro was in the heart of downtown Fairhope. A short drive along the coast brings you to their new location in the now-closed Fish River Grill on Scenic Highway 98.

Fairhope is bursting with excitement over this beloved spot’s reopening—just read through the comments on their simple Facebook post of a “COMING SOON” sign and smiley face. Here’s why they’re so excited.

R Bistro’s story

Founded by Misty and Joe Rider, R Bistro has been a favorite of the Fairhope community for many years. In 2021, they even won a Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for Best Restaurant—placing them in the website’s top 10% of restaurants.

They’re known for their warm hospitality, incredible sweets and top-notch Southern cooking—including their famous R Bistro Crawfish Gravy. Created in 1997, this signature recipe goes on everything from biscuits and rice to shrimp and grits and mac and cheese.

With influences from French cuisine, R Bistro has created even more signature products like their Tomato Glaze, Honey Mustard and Creole Seasoning.

At the new R Bistro, you’ll be able to enjoy all that and much more starting November 30.
