Keeping it authentic

Established in 1921 by John Hesse, the Ward family are the third owners of this local seafood shop. While the products being offered have not always been the same since its opening nearly 101 years ago, The Ward family has tried their best to keep the market authentic to what it was built for.

ā€œThe name and location havenā€™t changed. Over the years I have added more merchandise, more fresh seafood options, dips, homemade gumbos, etouffee, shrimp bisque and much more.”

Tracy Ward, co-owner of Foley Fish Co.

Tracy and Steve Ward, along with their two sons Ryan and Cory Mistrot, are involved daily in the operations. On December 1, 2021, this fan-favorite market held a celebration in honor of its 100th year in business.

Foley Fish Company invited the community out for live entertainment as well as hot gumbo and a shrimp boil. Recently, the Alabama Retail Association presented this well-known Foley business with an Alabama Centennial Retailer award. This award recognizes retailers with 100 or more years in business in Alabama for their contributions to the stateā€™s past, present and future.
