First fake fall of the year: Record-low temperatures set across Alabama
Reading time: 2 minutes

Heat indices across Alabama were reaching dangerous levels just last week but it suddenly feels like a completely different planet here in the South.
Lows reached into the lower 60s Sunday and Monday nights in most places around Alabama. But it wasn’t just about it cooling off at night, it also hasn’t been reaching the normal high temperatures for the summer.
According to the National Weather Service, several areas in our state actually set new records for their lowest recorded high temperature for Aug. 4 including:
- Anniston (74)
- Birmingham (77)
- Fort Payne (74)
- Montgomery (75)
- Muscle Shoals (80)
- Oneonta (70)
- Scottsboro (75)
- Tuscaloosa (79)
How long will the cooler weather last?
While the lows will remain in the mid 60s to low 70s throughout the rest of the week, the high temperatures will likely return to the 80s statewide by Wednesday.
There will be cool patches of air when rain comes through but by the weekend, afternoon highs are expected to be in the upper 80s and even the lower 90s again.
It won’t be long before more heat advisories are issued in Alabama as mid 90s are expected to return next week. So while it may feel like football weather right now, there is still plenty of summer to go which means the heat will certainly be back for August kickoffs.
