7 tornadoes confirmed during weekend storms across Alabama

A strong line of storms moved across the entire state late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, resulting in significant damage in several areas from flooding, straight-line winds and even tornadoes.

The National Weather Service has confirmed at least seven tornadoes touched down in Alabama including:

  • EF-1 Marshall County
  • EF-1 in Colbert County
  • EF-2 in Franklin County
  • EF-1 in Hale/Perry counties
  • EF-1 in Macon County
  • EF-1 in Lauderdale County
  • EF-1 in Tallapoosa County

Almost evert county in the state was impacted by power outages. Most have seen their power restored but Alabama Power reported more than 7,000 customers still without power as of 1PM Monday, Feb. 17.

Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported in Alabama.

Several areas still have roads closed and emergency responders working on clearing debris. Some cities are still asking people to stay off the road where the damage was at its worst.
