Former USF quarterback Byrum Brown follows coach to Auburn

While the opening of the transfer portal has seen Auburn lose all three quarterbacks who took snaps during the 2025 season.
But there’s already a clear frontrunner for who will take over those duties under first-year head coach Alex Golesh.
According to multiple reports, former USF quarterback Byrum Brown will be transferring to Auburn to use his final year of eligibility with the Tigers. Brown played in 35 games across four seasons with the Bulls, totaling:
- 7,690 passing yards
- 64.8 completion percentage
- 2,265 rushing yards
- 93 total touchdowns
Last season, Brown led the country in touchdowns responsible for with 42 total touchdowns (28 passing + 14 rushing). He’s currently tied for the national lead with Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza who still has at least one more game to play with Indiana.
Brown was also 4th in total offensive yards and 6th in passing efficiency.
According to On3 Sports, Brown has an estimated NIL value of $1.6 million.
Last season, Auburn saw three quarterbacks take snaps including Jackson Arnold, Ashton Daniels and Deuce Knight. All three have entered the transfer portal.
Those three players combined for just 11 passing touchdowns and 14 rushing touchdowns. Auburn finished 15th in the SEC in passing yards per game.
