Full Moon BBQ honored with Lifetime Achievement and Humanitarian of the Year awards

The Alabama Restaurant & Hospitality Association presented David and Joe Maluff, co-owners of Full Moon BBQ, with the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award and the Humanitarian of the Year Award at the annual Stars of the Industry Awards ceremony, held Nov. 10 in Montgomery.
The prestigious awards celebrate individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions to the restaurant and hospitality sector.
Full Moon BBQ excellence
Full Moon BBQ, which turns 40 years old in 2026, has flourished under the leadership of David and Joe Maluff, who took ownership in 1997.
According to the association, their stewardship has guided the restaurant through substantial growth, operational excellence, unwavering commitment to quality and a dedication to preserving the brand’s family-owned roots.

Full Moon BBQ gives back
The Maluff brothers were also honored with the 2025 Humanitarian of the Year Award. This is the second time Full Moon has earned the award in three years.
Full Moon’s philanthropic efforts include meaningful collaborations with the following charities:
- Children’s of Alabama
- Birmingham Zoo
- Make-A-Wish Alabama
- Nick’s Kids Foundation
- UAB National Alumni Society
- Bruce Pearl Family Foundation’s AUTLIVE Cancer initiative
Internally, Full Moon BBQ’s Backpack Blessing initiative has surpassed $200,000 in donations and has provided more than 900 fully-stocked Nike backpacks to students across Alabama and Mississippi.
