Goodwill Gulf Coast’s 2023 “Christmas on the Coast” ornament is a staff favorite, declared Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson in his newsletter to Port City residents earlier this month.

“This year’s ornament has been a favorite among our staff members and many other Mobilians because it highlights an unfortunately familiar sight: an RV stuck in the Bankhead Tunnel!”

A Mobile Christmas tradition

These limited edition, brass- and gold-plated ornaments have become collector’s items for many Gulf Coast residents over the past three decades.

“Every year Goodwill Gulf Coast selects a different iconic image or iconic feature of Mobile to depict in the ornament. This one was very popular because if you live in Mobile you know that this happens on a regular basis—About two dozen times a year. Either a recreational vehicle or a large truck that exceeds the 12 foot height clearance will get stuck in the mouth of the Bankhead Tunnel.”

According to the group, revenue generated from the sale of “Christmas on the Coast” ornaments allows Goodwill Gulf Coast to provide services in our communities that encourage, educate, and employ thousands of individuals each year with disabilities and other barriers to success.

Programs include:

Early care and education for children of all abilities
Family support
Adult education and GED services
Job search assistance
Free income tax preparation services for low-income households.

How to purchase Goodwill Gulf Coast Mobile ornament

The $20 ornaments are now available to order online, Goodwill Gulf Coast retail stores and at select Gulf Coast vendors in the Mobile and Pensacola areas. All proceeds go to Goodwill Gulf Coast.

In addition to the 2023 ornaments, a limited supply of ornaments from previous years also is available for purchase on our website.
