The national average for a gallon of regular gas has shot up nearly 27 cents in the last week as travelers start to plan spring trips across Alabama.

In Alabama, the average price for a gallon as of March 5 is $2.94, according to AAA. That price is much higher than recent marks including:

March 4: $2.88
Feb. 26: $2.65
Feb. 5: $2.55
March 5, 2025: $2.75

According to AAA, Alabama has the 12th lowest average price for a gallon of regular gas in the country. That state is 16th in diesel price ($3.87/gallon).

The national average still remains below what it was in March 2023 and March 2024.

If you live in the northern third of the state, you may still be seeing a rise in gas prices but know that you are probably on the lower end of gas prices across the state.

In fact, the theme currently seems to be the closer you are to the coast, the more expensive your gas will be.
