Gulf Shores airport adds 30% more flights + more destinations
Reading time: 2 minutes

Starting May 2026, Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF) will add five new nonstop destinations to their offerings, enhancing travel for residents and connecting more travelers to the Alabama Gulf Coast.
Allegiant will offer nonstop, seasonal service from:
- Springfield, Missouri (SGF)
- Louisville, Kentucky (SDF)
- Huntsville (HSV)
- Omaha, Nebraska (OMA)
- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (OKC)
These flights will run twice per week to each destination through the peak summer season, GUF said in a release Tuesday, Nov. 18.
“Allegiant’s leisure‑focused business model and low fares are a perfect match for our destination. In addition, the airport authority, cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama’s Beaches, and business leaders have cultivated an environment where Allegiant can be successful.
“It’s a recipe for success. Many airlines and the communities are reducing air service; stagnate in their growth. Allegiant has done just the opposite here in Gulf Shores. The dream of air service has taken off, literally.”
Jesse Fosnaugh, airport director
In addition to the summer routes, new routes have been added, giving GUF a 30% increase in total flights.
Other routes with nonstop service, which were added earlier this year, are:
- St. Louis/Belleville, Illinois (BLV)
- Fayetteville/Bentonville, Arkansas (XNA)
- Cincinnati, Kentucky (CVG)
- Kansas City, Missouri (MCI)
- Appleton/Green Bay, Wisconsin (ATW)
- Des Moines, Iowa (DSM)
- Nashville, Tennessee (BNA)
- Knoxville, Tennessee (TYS)
This makes 13 total nonstop flights for Gulf Shores. According to the airport, about half of Allegiant’s passengers using the airport had never visited Alabama’s beaches before commercial service began. 80% of those surveyed said they plan to return more often now that nonstop flights are available.
GUF has also begun the process of expanding their terminal in a $15 million project. The expansion will accommodate “two simultaneous aircraft operations,” the airport said.
Groundbreaking is planned for summer 2026 with completion targeted for May 2027.
