The Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF/JKA) broke ground on a $15 million terminal expansion, aimed to amplify the airport’s already impressive passenger growth. More than 34,000 passengers traveled through Gulf Shores International in June — a new all-time record for the airport since the service was established in May 2025.

With construction underway, the expansion is set to be complete in summer 2027. The terminal area will include:

  • Relaxed outdoor patio
  • Dedicated mothers’ nursing area
  • Expanded food, beverage + retail offerings for passengers

“Even though we are growing, we will keep the airport experience quick, easy, inexpensive, and cheerful. The ‘small-community’ feel of the airport is still paramount to our mission.”

Jesse Fosnaugh, airport director
