Gulf Shores named silver-level bicycle friendly community

Gulf Shores has been recognized as a Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.
The popular beach town is one of two cities in Alabama honored by the group. Auburn received the Bronze-level award.

Commitment to trails

According to the League of American Bicyclists, Gulf Shores earned the honor because of its commitment to trails and infrastructure investments. Some of the community highlights include:
- Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail System, which features over 28 miles of paved trails connecting multiple ecosystems throughout the area
- Development of the Baldwin County Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Plan
- Significant infrastructure improvements
