Guthrie’s opens 31st Alabama location in Montgomery

Hope you’re in the mood for fried chicken: Montgomery just got its second Guthrie’s. 

The family-owned chain now has 31 locations across the state of Alabama and around 70 in 11 states.

The new Montgomery restaurant is located at 5471 Atlanta Highway. It is the fifth new location this year. 

Guthrie’s is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary — the first one opened in Haleyville in 1965. Its “Southern golden fried” chicken recipe perfected by founder Hal Guthrie in 1968 is still in use today.
