Guthrie’s opens first location in the Shoals

You can find Guthrie’s all over the state so you may be surprised to learn that the Muscle Shoals-Florence area has not had quick access to the popular chicken finger joint.

Until now.

Guthrie’s recently opened a new location in the heart of the Shoals on Woodward Avenue. It’s the state’s 33rd Guthrie’s location.

Here’s what you need to know before visiting:

Guthrie’s started in Haleyville, less than an hour south of the new location in Muscle Shoals. But previously, the closest location to the Shoals was in Moulton.

This is the second new Guthrie’s location to open in Alabama this month with a new Montgomery spot opening on Oct. 2. It’s also the fifth new location to open so far this year.

Guthrie’s is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary — the first one opened in Haleyville in 1965. Its “Southern golden fried” chicken recipe perfected by founder Hal Guthrie in 1968 is still in use today.
