Hats off to the Bama Buzz Intern Class of 2024!
It’s no secret that our team relies on some pretty talented interns to get the job done. All over the state, our team of interns seamlessly juggle the collegiate courseload and creating engaging content for our sites. So, to celebrate them and their accomplishments, let’s take a second to give a round of applause to our Interns Graduating Class of 2024.
Audrey Kent
- Role on our team: Content Production Intern at The Bama Buzz
- Favorite story: Inside look at Auburn’s bee lab + For the Bees club
- Alma mater: Auburn University
- Degree + concentrations: Bachelors Degree in Creative Writing, minor in Journalism
- Accomplishments: Writing published in the The Auburn Plainsman and the Auburn Circle Literary Magazine, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.00 Major GPA
- Post-grad plans: I plan on moving to Birmingham and exploring job opportunities while continuing to write fiction, nonfiction, and poetry
Abby Shepard
- Role on our team: Content Production Intern at Bham Now
- Favorite story: Then + Now
- Alma mater: Samford University
- Degree + concentrations: Journalism and Mass Communications with a Concentration in Advertising
- Accomplishments: Being in the Journalism and Mass Communications program for Advertising and all of the campaigns we did before we graduated, such as working with Ally Bank and competing in the Effie Collegiate Brand Challenge.
- Post-grad plans: I plan to stay in Birmingham and get more involved in the Magic City, which Bham Now has already helped me do! Also to travel to Europe one day.
Curtis Venetta
- Role on our team: Content Production Intern at Hville Blast
- Favorite story: Cultivating land + community — how this family-owned flower farm spreads joy through their love for nature
- Alma mater: The University of Alabama in Huntsville
- Degree + concentrations: BA in Writing with a concentration in Media Writing and a Minor in Web Communications
- Accomplishments: Graduated Summa Cum Laude and was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the official communication honor society
- Post-grad plans: I’m still knee-deep in the job search, but I know I would like to do marketing copywriting. With the knowledge I’ve built upon in my time with Hville Blast and other internships, I’m confident I can apply my learned skill set in the marketing industry.
Grace Brindley
- Role on our team: Content Production Intern for The Bama Buzz
- Favorite story: GUIDE: Get ready for game day at these 7 Tuscaloosa stores
- Alma mater: University of Alabama
- Degree + concentrations: I was a public relations undergrad, and for my masters, I studied public relations and advertising (BA and MA)
- Accomplishments: I was a senior media coordinator for capstone agency, the student run public relations agency at the University of Alabama. I was also an ambassador for the college of communications and graduated summe cumme laude at UA.
- Post-grad plans: In the fall, I will be attending law school at UA.
Nicole Gibson
- Role on our team: Content Production Intern for Bham Now
- Favorite story: 11 staples for brunch lovers in the Magic City
- Alma mater: Samford University
- Degree + concentrations: Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing
- Accomplishments: President of American Marketing Association chapter, VPO for Tri Delta Epsilon Xi chapter, Dean’s List, scholarships
- Post-grad plans: Full-time travel nanny
