Heisman Trophy on display in Tuscaloosa (Sep. 24-28)

The Heisman Trophy did not find a home in Tuscaloosa until 2009 when Mark Ingram won the prestigious award for the first time in program history.

Now, Alabama has four Heisman winners, the fifth most of any school in the country.

And while those trophies currently have a permanent place at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility, the main Heisman Trophy will be in town Sep. 24-28 as the Crimson Tide hosts South Carolina.

Heisman Trophy tour in Tuscaloosa

The hardware arrive in Tuscaloosa earlier this week, showcased at Townsend Nissan on Skyland Boulevard. It will be at the dealership during business hours through Friday where fans can get a photo with the trophy and enter to win tickets to the South Carolina game.

Fans will also be able to take a photo with the trophy on gameday at Townsend Nissan’s tailgate at the Walk of Champions. Photo opportunities will be available from 2-4PM.

On Saturday, the trophy will also be on display at R&R Cigars Cigar Mansion during the weekly pregame radio show.

Mark Ingram honored during Alabama-South Carolina

Speaking of Heisman winners, Alabama’s first winner will be recognized at halftime of Alabama’s game against South Carolina this weekend.

According to a report from On3, the College Football Hall of Fame will recognize Ingram with an “NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute” ahead of his scheduled induction later this year.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6PM at Bryant-Denny Stadium and it will air on ESPN.
