The housing market all over the country has seen some drastic changes in the last five years, mostly trending in an upward direction and continuing to rise.

In Alabama, median home costs are much higher than they were just a few years ago, and in some metro areas, have increased by as much as 50 percent. Here’s what homes cost in Alabama’s Metropolitan Statistical Areas at the moment:

The Alabama Center for Real Estate reports that the highest real estate index (REI) is in the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley MSA, followed by the Birmingham-Hoover MSA.

Statewide, ACRE shows a REI score of 62.6, which indicates a positive outlook for the Alabama real estate market moving forward. The median cost for a home in Alabama right now is $329,645, up from $322,500 this time last year.
