64 schools from across the country have been selected for an online mascot, or nickname, competition. And one school is representing the state of Alabama.
Highland Home School in Crenshaw County has one of the more unique mascots in the state as it is the home of the Flying Squadron. And that nickname grabbed the attention of The64.com, a website dedicated to tournaments with open voting.
The Flying Squadron is one of 64 schools competing in the East Region with the winner to receive an undisclosed cash prize.
“From fierce Volcanoes, Horned Toads, and mighty Spartans, the competition starts with two regions containing 64 mascots nationwide, including one from Alabama, will battle for the title of Best High School Mascot and a cash prize for their school. And it’s not just about the schools; fans from anywhere can vote and rally behind their favorite mascot.”
