The 2025-26 high school basketball season is officially in the books after an eventful week at Legacy Arena.
14 teams walked out of the arena with a blue map state championship trophy including four first-time champions and two more for the most dominant girls programs in AHSAA history.

High school basketball state championships

The week ended with just two repeat champions including the Montgomery Academy boys and, to no surprise, the Hoover girls.
Behind the leadership of coach Krystle Lawson, Hoover became the second basketball program in state history to win six consecutive state titles. The Bucs now have 12 total state titles, the second most of any AHSAA program.
The only other team to win 6+ straight championships is the Hazel Green girls who won seven straight between 2018-2024. That streak ended last year but the Trojans returned with vengeance this season, taking down Park Crossing in the 6A title game.
Wenonah had a record-breaking performance in the 5A championship, becoming the first boys team to score 100 points in a state championship game. And their 61-point win was the largest margin of victory in AHSAA championship game history.
