On Tuesday, September 5, the City of Andalusia took a big step toward making a big dream come true. The dream? A larger-than-life park filled with all the outdoor features you can imagine—Heritage Park.

Heritage Park is going to be a huge community center in Andalusia

Heritage Park, which will be located near the old depot on the corner of South Cotton Street and Tisdale Street, is making progress in Andalusia. The park, which just broke ground, will include many features that will make it a hub for the community:

  • Amphitheater (seating 300 people)
  • Carousel
  • Clubhouse
  • Green spaces
  • Market
  • Pond (1.4 acres)
  • Picnic pavilions
  • Splash pad
  • Walking + biking paths

This sounds more like a destination than a park, doesn’t it? The mayor thinks so, too.

“These are the kinds of things we’re doing to make Andalusia a destination city.”

Work has started on Heritage Park in Andalusia

After the September 5 groundbreaking, the City of Andalusia is one step closer to welcoming the community to Heritage Park enjoy the amenities and activities.

The popular annual holiday event in Andalusia, CandyLand, will be held at Heritage Park, as well as many other events throughout the year.

“It’s something that we think it will take an old, old part of our city that’s been laying dormant for many years, and turn it into a really progressive, beautiful place to come and visit and bring visitors to our city and for our local citizens to enjoy.”
