Hyundai Mobis creates 400+ new jobs in Montgomery through EV battery plant
More jobs are becoming available to Montgomery’s workforce—400 to be exact. Hyundai Mobis just announced their plans to add an EV battery plant to their Montgomery campus, keeping jobs local and driving innovation with electric vehicle part production.
Expanding their large presence
If you live in Montgomery, you know about Hyundai Mobis’ large presence in the city. The MOBIS module division was founded in 2002 and sits on 83 acres. Not only are they a Tier One supplier to Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and KIA Motor Manufacturing Georgia, but are hold both ISO14001 and IATF16949 Certifications for Environmental Management and Quality Management—making them the perfect spot to add an EV battery plant.
This new EV battery plant is scheduled to open in 2024 with construction slated to start in December 2022. These batteries will help fuel the push of electric vehicle production.
“Alabama’s auto manufacturing sector is evolving rapidly to capitalize on the EV revolution that is sweeping the industry. This new Hyundai Mobis battery plant represents another milestone in that transition”
– Gov. Kay Ivey, Governor, State of Alabama (as quoted on WSFA)
