Huntsville was recently named a housing market “hidden gem” by The National Association of Realtors. I’ve been considering looking into buying my very first home, so this caught my eye and led me into a search to better understand the Huntsville housing market.

Things to know about Huntsville:

  • Demand is high, supply is low
  • Low cost of living (5% lower than the national average), high quality of life
  • Employment opportunities and population growth are both high
  • Huntsville is the biggest city in Alabama

I set my own criteria:

  • Under $300,000
  • 3 bedroom/2 bath
  • Bonus: garage + outdoor space for hosting

1. Evergreen Street

This one immediately made me feel like I was daydreaming. I loved the interior and exterior of this house. With a garage and great outdoor space, I was instantly interested.

2. Mira Vista Drive

Once again, I loved the interior of this home—totally imagining my own decor in it. The home is spacious, has a great kitchen and an outdoor front porch, so it has plenty of pros in my book.

Ultimately, my first choice would be the house on Evergreen Street. I love the unique character within the home and its price would make it the best investment for me!

Someday, maybe! A girl can dream.

My takeaway? Huntsville is growing and the housing market is hot. As the area continues to expand and develop, I want to have a stake in the housing market and an opportunity for investment.
