IKEA sets opening date for first Alabama location

The wait is over, Huntsville. Alabama’s first IKEA store will officially open in just a matter of days. The company announced today that a grand opening event is taking place Feb. 25 at the new IKEA location at University Place Shopping Center.

Here’s what to know about opening day:
The celebration begins at 8AM, and customers can begin lining up at 7AM. The first 100 children will receive soft toys, and early visitors can enjoy exciting giveaways including IKEA products and gift cards while supplies last.

The Huntsville store includes:
- A 46,000 square-foot space designed to inspire, featuring fully furnished room settings that showcase “local living” solutions tailored to Huntsville residents
- 5,000 products on display, with a curated selection of 2,000+ items available for immediate takeaway—including accessories and more than 75 small furniture pieces
- A central planning area offering one-on-one design consultations for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, small spaces and more
- An As-is Department featuring gently used and discontinued items to support more sustainable home furnishing choices
- A full Swedish food experience, including hot and cold IKEA favorites
