Jason Kelce makes surprise stop in Alabama
Reading time: 2 minutes

NFL legend Jason Kelce has been part of numerous side quests since his retirement in March 2024. His recent collaboration with Kingsford Charcoal brought him to Decatur, where he was spotted enjoying local restaurants.
Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ and The Brick Deli & Tavern were two of the lucky restaurants visited by Kelce on Wednesday. Gibson’s celebrated 100 years of serving North Alabama last fall, and we are so glad Kelce got a taste of their fantastic white sauce.

Who is Jason Kelce?

Throughout his 13-year NFL career, Jason Kelce played center for the Philadelphia Eagles. Since retiring from the NFL in spring of 2024, Jason has launched a podcast called “New Heights” with his brother Travis, starred in numerous commercials, and appeared in public with his wife, Kylie, and four daughters. His brother, Travis, recently became engaged to musician Taylor Swift.
Fun fact: While Swift has not been to Decatur like her soon-to-be brother-in-law, many of her earlier shows were played in nearby Huntsville.
Locals dish on the celebrity sighting
Decatur locals such as Amber Stuart and son, Cole, got the opportunity to take photos and chat with Kelce. It was a highlight for Cole, who plays football for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy.
“He was so nice. Had good conversation with Cole about football. Most down to Earth celebrity I’ve met.”
