Troy is lifting the interim tag from Kyle George’s job title, making him the new permanent Athletics Director for the university, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

While the university has not officially announced the change yet, reports say Troy Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr. announced the news at a private event Saturday night.

George was named interim AD in July when Brent Jones left Troy to take a job at Georgia Tech.

Kyle George, a Hoover native, first joined the Troy staff in March 2017, working with the athletic department’s marketing team which Troy credits for establishing several new records including the highest attended football season in program history.

The work also extended to several top-10 highest attended games in other sports including:

  • Soccer
  • Men’s and women’s basketball
  • Baseball
  • Softball

George also oversaw the community outreach events and community hero ticket distribution as part of Trojan Takeover in the greater New Orleans area leading up to the 2017 New Orleans Bowl.

Prior to being named interim AD, George served in multiple roles including:

  • Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Sales
  • Executive Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations
  • Deputy Director of Athletics for External Relations

Additionally, George served as the sport administrator for Troy’s baseball and football programs.

As Deputy AD, George oversaw all external operations with an intense focus on revenue generation including the areas of fundraising, licensing, ticket sales, marketing and corporate sponsorships.
