Meet bendy knees design company + Lowe’s 100 murals
To know Levi Axleigh and Jordy Thompson is to love them—and their vibrant, colorful, community-focused work. When I was scrolling through Instagram one day and saw them in this video from Lowe’s, I wasn’t the least bit surprised.
Here’s what they had to say about the project:
“Lowe’s originated as a small town hardware store, so in celebration of their 100th birthday, they wanted to give back to the communities that have built the brand they have become. A huge part of this project was that they hired 100 local artists to paint murals in 100 small towns across the country.
For the video, they picked 10 artists to highlight. bendy knees design company & the Cullman, Alabama store were chosen. Lowe’s hired a production company, @dpost_buffalo, to travel across the country to interview and tell each artist’s story behind the mural.”—Jordy + Levi of bendy knees design company
Huntsville, Alabama was the focus of one of Lowe’s 100 murals
Obviously, the people who chose Huntsville as one of the 100 small towns didn’t get the news that it’s now the largest city in the state of Alabama. But, we’ll forgive them since the murals were done in the summer of 2021, before that news became widely known.
Seriously, we just love all the vibrant colors and lush vegetation in this mural. According to the artists, this one nods to what you can see at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. You can catch it now at Lowe’s of N Huntsville, 3505 N Memorial Pkwy NW, Huntsville, AL 35810.
Cullman, Alabama was one of 10 featured towns as part of Lowe’s 100 murals
Levi and Jordy came up with this creative depiction of Cullman, which was one of ten featured in the film (above). See it for a limited time at Lowe’s of Cullman, 1717 Cherokee Ave SW, Cullman, AL 35055.

The final word from Levi + Jordy:
“Considering the scale of this project, how many artists were involved, and the need to deliver each mural not only to their studios but also back to the stores, this was such a seamless and incredible experience for us. Lowe’s went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for this project to be a success.”bendy knees design company
