Margaritaville coming to Orange Beach—city breaks ground on new resort
Reading time: 2 minutes

Last year, the Wharf at Orange Beach announced it would be home to the first Margaritaville resort in Alabama. Wednesday, the city took the next step to making that a reality.
Officials broke ground on the new resort May 14, starting an approximately four-year construction project across Portage Creek from The Wharf Amphitheater.
The 83-acre waterfront property is expected to open by 2027 with the full project being completed by 2029. The site will include:
- 400 residences
- 43 deep-water transient boat slips
- 6-acre water recreation area
- On-site restaurants + bars
- Fitness center
- Arcade
- Kids’ camp
- Meeting + event spaces
There will also be a new private ferry available, transporting guests from the resort to The Wharf.
“This project represents a new chapter for Orange Beach. By bringing together a Margaritaville resort and The Wharf, we are creating a destination that amplifies the appeal of both properties and elevates the entire Orange Beach experience.”
Art Favre, Owner of The Wharf
