Medical tech firm breaks ground on $82 million Huntsville facility
Reading time: 2 minutes

Ground was broken last week for a new Huntsville facility for Glaukos, a global ophthalmic pharmaceutical and medical technology company focused on novel therapies for the treatment of glaucoma, corneal disorders and retinal diseases.
This $82 million facility is expected to bring in 154 full-time jobs by 2030.
Mayor Tommy Battle said the company’s decision to expand in Huntsville reflects the city’s collaborative innovation ecosystem, its strong track record in science and technology and its long-term investment in biotech growth.
“For decades, Huntsville has worked to build an environment where science, technology and advanced manufacturing thrive together in a community that knows how to support discovery. Glaukos’ decision to grow here builds on that foundation, showing how our community’s strengths attract companies that are shaping the future of human health around the world.”

Glaukos CEO Thomas Burns said after evaluating over 100 potential sites worldwide, the company chose Huntsville “for its strong talent base and vibrant business climate.”
