MLB unveils throwback jerseys for games at Rickwood Field

As the events at Rickwood Field get closer and closer, things are starting to become real for those involved. That includes the Birmingham Barons and Montgomery Biscuits, who get to open up the week with a game Tuesday night at the nation’s oldest active ballpark.

With less than a week before first pitch, the two teams got a first look at the throwback jerseys they would be wearing for the game.

Grey Sox vs. Black Barons

The two minor league baseball teams will go by different names Tuesday night, representing the names of teams from the Negro Leagues.

For one day, the Montgomery Biscuits and the Birmingham Barons will become the Montgomery Grey Sox and the Birmingham Black Barons.

The game will just be the beginning of a week filled with events at Rickwood Field including the Barnstorm Birmingham event + an MLB game between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.

MLB uniforms released

Thursday’s game between the two MLB teams is likely to bring out the stars + celebrities that will take on most of the spotlight. But on the field, it’ll be tough to take your eyes off the jerseys.

The throwbacks will be a tribute to the San Francisco Sea Lions and St. Louis Stars, two Negro Leagues teams.
