Mobile restaurant recognized as fan-favorite from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

Did you know that Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives” has aired more than 40 seasons in about 20 years?
The well-known celebrity chef and restaurateur has made his way across the entire U.S. — countless times, at this point — to showcase some of the best spots to eat.
To celebrate Fieri’s nearly two decades on the road, Food Network gathered a list of fan-favorites from each state. Here’s what to know about Alabama’s pick.
The Hummingbird Way Oyster Bar

In 2023, Fieri made his way to Mobile, which meant several restaurants in both Mobile and Baldwin counties were featured throughout season 38.
One of those was The Hummingbird Way Oyster Bar, an upscale oyster bar owned by acclaimed chef Jim Smith. The restaurant “focuses on the best local seafood, ingredients, and food traditions that make Mobile such a special food destination,” its website says.
On the show, Smith makes creole braised rabbit, picked cabbage chow chow and curried flounder and clams — all of which left Fieri impressed.
“It was a true honor to be featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Guy and his team showed genuine respect for the food and the people behind it, and the exposure introduced new guests to our restaurant and our approach in the kitchen: The Hummingbird Way. I’m deeply thankful for the experience.”
Chef Jim Smith
The Hummingbird Way opened in 2020 to serve what Smith says is “homemade food, but not too stuffy about it.”
Next time you’re by Mobile Bay, give this mouth-watering spot a try, and let us know if it’s worth the hype!
