Mobile’s Tennis Center to host national tournament in September

Did you know one of the largest recreational tennis facilities in the world is right here in Mobile? It boasts an impressive 60 state-of-the-art courts, and later this year those courts will be full of players from all across the country for the National Public Parks Tennis Tournament.

National Public Parks Tennis Tournament

For the first time ever, the National Public Parks Tennis Tournament is being hosted in Alabama. The tournament is in its 101st year, celebrating its centennial last year in St. Louis, where the first tournament was held.

This year’s tournament is set for September 20-22. Here’s the preliminary schedule organizers have released:

Friday, September 20

  • Ladies NTRP Day Team Event
  • WTN Mixed Doubles
  • WTN for Top Juniors and College Players 

Saturday, September 21

  • USTA Level 4 Wheelchair Tournament
  • USTA Level 7 Junior Tournament
  • USTA Men’s and Women’s Doubles Team Event

Sunday, September 22

  • USTA Age Division Singles Event

Organizers also have a party planned for Saturday night. Proceeds benefit the Child Advocacy Center.

Registration opens on June 1.

About Mobile Tennis Center

The Mobile Tennis Center plays host to several yearly tournaments, like the collegiate-level NCAA and NAIA Tennis Championships and the high-school level ASHAA Tennis Championship. You can also learn from one of the pros by taking a lesson or book a court for a recreational game of your own.
