The Montgomery Zoo is set to get a $4.2 million facelift soon with construction scheduled to start this week in the capital city.
The city awarded the contract to Holly-Henley Builders based in Montgomery. The project will take roughly one year to complete, building a new entrance that will include:
- New administrative offices
- Updated ticket windows
- New gift shop
- New restrooms
These will all be included in a new plaza-style entrance. Take a look at some of the most recent renderings from the city!

The current entrance will be completely torn down before construction of the new plaza begins.
While the construction process is happening, the zoo has new instructions for visitors including where to park + where to enter.
“During the construction phase all guests may enter and exit the Zoo at the Mann Museum. We will have a temporary admissions office and gift shop located by the Museum. Parking will also be in the Mann Museum parking lot. Should overflow parking be needed, guests are asked to park in the old parking lot by the ball fields and walk over to the Museum to enter the Zoo. Thank you so much for your patience during this time of new construction and growth.”
