Get ready to roll, Montgomery—Eastdale Mall’s former ice rink reopens Tuesday, December 6 as a roller skating rink. Read on for the scoop. 

From blades to wheels

Since 1977, the center point of Montgomery’s Eastdale Mall was its ice skating rink. From weekend skate nights with friends to family outings and skating lessons, it was the place to be for locals of all ages.

But, according to the Montgomery Advertiser, as of Tuesday, December 6, kids and families will have a new spot to create memories—Roller Palace.

What to expect

Taking over the former 8,000 square-foot ice rink, Roller Palace features an intriguing shiny blue floor designed just for roller skates, new signage and decor. It also features 100 brand-new roller skates just waiting for you to strap on for hours of entertainment. 

While a snack area with vending machines is in future plans, you can visit the mall’s food court nearby.

Ready to skate?

Here’s what to know before you go:

  • Hours: Sunday-Friday, Noon-6PM | Saturday 10AM-6PM | First session begins after 10AM ribbon cutting on Tuesday, December 6
  • Location: Eastdale Mall, 1000 W Eastdale Mall, Montgomery, AL 36117
  • Cost: $8 per person with skate rental (sizes 1-13) | $5 per person with personal skates (Note: Personal skates must have wheels in good condition to be allowed on the rink.)

Bonus: According to the Montgomery Advertiser, there is currently no limit to how long you can skate, so that $5-$8 admission goes a long way in fun.
