It may not be the shocking and historic announcement some people were hoping for but new tour dates from country music artist Morgan Wallen have created plenty of buzz in Tuscaloosa and across the state.

Wallen announced a national stadium tour which will include a stop at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa—the first standalone concert at the stadium in more than four decades.

The show is scheduled for April 18, 2026. The tour also includes stops at two other college football stadiums + eight NFL stadiums. Supporting acts for the show will include:

  • Ella Langley
  • Vincent Mason
  • Zach John King

Several teasers were posted across social media by different stadium and team accounts. And those teasers were confirmed Thursday morning.

You can pre-register for the tickets on the artist’s website. The registration period is open now through Thursday, Nov. 6, at 10PM. Tickets will officially go on sale on Friday, Nov. 7.

University of Alabama concerts

The most recent scheduled concert at Bryant-Denny Stadium was Alan Jackson in 2008 when the country star was supposed to play A-Day weekend in Tuscaloosa. However, that tour was canceled.

Before that, the stadium has a complicated history with concerts.

Jerry Lee Lewis and Hank Williams Jr. played a show in 1983 during homecoming weekend in a event called “Bama Blast.” Less than a decade later, the band Alabama played after the 1992 spring game but that seems to be the last time a live show was played inside the stadium.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, former Alabama coach Bear Bryant used to express concerns about how a concert at the stadium could damage the turf. Alabama AD Greg Byrne has spoken about similar concerns in more recent years.

However, there has been a much longer history of concerts at Coleman Coliseum, formerly known as Memorial Coliseum, on Alabama’s campus. Some major bands made stops in Tuscaloosa in the venue’s first two decades after opening including:

  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Elvis Presley
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Grateful Dead
  • The Rolling Stones
  • The Who
  • Elton John
  • Stevie Nicks

Concerts continued at the arena into the 90s and even some this century but they are much fewer + far between without nearly as much name recognition.

Auburn University concerts

Tuscaloosa isn’t the only one making big announcements for music fans this year.

Back in July, Auburn University announced it would be using Jordan-Hare Stadium + Neville Arena for concerts. The university said it has entered a multi-year partnership with Peachtree Entertainment to bring major live music events to both Neville Arena and Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn says it will bring at least five “multi-genre concerts” each year. The first concert announcements are expected to come this fall with performances starting in 2026.
