Florence foodies are in luck this fall.
Chris and Lauren Singleton Brink are opening a new Mugshots Grill & Bar location downtown. The Florence spot will be the 22nd Mugshots franchise and the restaurant’s 7th location in Alabama.
Lauren Brink said that she and her husband have been interested in bringing new dining opportunities to Florence for years now, but were unsure about what restaurant would work best.
“We have a broad range of restaurants here, but we quickly realized we didn’t have a primarily burger place,” Brink said. “We were on our way to the beach this past spring, and we decided to stop at Mugshots in Fultondale. We have dined at many of their locations but we were just dining, we weren’t thinking about franchising at that time. That day we both looked at each other as if a light bulb went off. This is it; this is the atmosphere and product that Florence needs. We emailed the contact listed on the menu and after lots of prospecting, here we are!”
Mugshots is popular for a large selection of burgers, including:
- Standards like the Middleberger, a classic burger
- Pato, a Middleberger with cheese
- Specialty burgers like the Southern Burger, which comes complete with pimiento cheese, bacon and fried pickles If burgers aren’t your thing, the restaurant also offers a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and pasta dishes.
Or, study the menu online before you go; it’s hard to go wrong with so many tasty options.
The new restaurant will be on the corner of Court Street and Tuscaloosa Street. Florence locals will recognize the location as the old Fred’s storefront.
“Florence is full of history,” Brink said. “Our site is just one of many buildings that has a backstory. The building was originally a Dodge Brothers dealership; the emblem in stone is still visible on the building. We’re excited to preserve the history and bring the building back to life. It’s a great location, we hope everyone enjoys it and we continue to watch Florence grow.”
