Owens Corning, a building products leader, is building a new shingle manufacturing facility in Prattville, providing an economic boost to Autauga County.

The facility is expected to create nearly 100 manufacturing jobs, according to the Alabama Department of Commerce.

The new plant will operate a four-wide laminator capable of producing approximately 6 million squares of laminate shingles per year. The facility will also incorporate advanced automation and leading-edge technology.

“Owens Corning is a name known around the world, and I’m proud that this iconic company is planting roots in Prattville. This major investment shows great confidence in Alabama’s workforce and in our state’s ability to support world-class manufacturing…  With nearly 100 high-quality jobs on the way, this project is a big win for Autauga County and for all of Alabama.”

Gov. Kay Ivey

The project is supported by a $4.9 million investment from the Growing Alabama program, which is accelerating improvements at the site in Prattville’s South Industrial Park

In addition, AIDT, Alabama’s primary workforce development agency, will provide services valued at $885,000.

Construction is expected to begin soon, with production slated to start in Prattville in 2027.

“Your decision to invest in Prattville showcases your commitment to innovation and excellence in building materials but also represents a significant milestone for our local economy, which promises to create high-quality jobs, stimulate growth and strengthen our workforce for generations to come. Together, we look forward to a long and prosperous partnership as we build a brighter future for all.”

State and local economic development officials collaborated closely with Owens Corning to make the project a reality, reflecting Alabama’s ongoing effort to attract long-term investment to both rural and urban communities.

“This project demonstrates Alabama’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing. Owens Corning’s decision to bring this innovative facility to Prattville reflects our state’s strong business climate and our commitment to supporting forward-looking companies with the infrastructure and workforce they need to succeed.”
