It’s not uncommon for celebrities to drop by the mullet toss— though the “celebrities” are usually local TV news favorites and musicians on the rise. But this weekend, new Tide Head Coach Kalen DeBoer rolled into town to try his hand at tossing a mullet—and he brought a few friends.

DeBoer + Co. roll into Orange Beach

It was a star-studded Sunday on Alabama’s beaches as head football Coach Kalen DeBoer waltzed into the Mullet Toss—with men’s basketball Coach Nate Oats and a few players in tow: Jalen Milroe, Malachi Moore, Ryan Anderson + Jake Coker.

Celebrity throws aren’t scored like the normal tosses, but we hear Milroe threw his mullet a whopping 94 feet!

Tide players were among thousands on the beaches this weekend, all trying their hand to see how far they can throw a dead fish towards our friends in Florida. The annual Mullet Toss is one of the biggest events on the Alabama Gulf Coast every year.

Tide takes Talladega, too

Tide football players were also spotted at Talladega earlier this month. Players got to experience the spectator side of sports, watching Tyler Reddick take home first place in the Geico 500.

Tide players aren’t set to hit the gridiron until late August, when they play Western Kentucky on August 31. In the meantime, we’ll enjoy them soaking up all sorts of fun events across our state.
