Since 2010, the Alabama Historical Commission (AHC) has released a list of places the organization has deemed “In Peril.” Historic buildings and architectural sites that, without some extra love—and funding—will succumb to the passage of time. The AHC just released the 2023 Places in Peril list and opened up submissions for 2024.

Submissions for the 2024 Places in Peril list opened on the first of May, to coincide with National Historic Preservation Month. All you need to do is email the AHC a photo of the building and everything you know about it. The AHC will take it from there, evaluating the spaces for historical significance and repair needs.
