Behind a popular College Street spot, you can now find a 1920s-inspired speakeasy. Keep reading for all you need to know about Oz, ‘Auburn’s only speakeasy.’

About Oz + Il Forno

Ever since Il Forno celebrated its grand re-opening in October, Auburn has been loving the Italian-American cuisine and upscale atmosphere.

Located on North College Street, nearly on-campus at Auburn University, Il Forno serves up authentic Italian dishes like ravioli, carbonara and piccata. Plus, they offer catering and a venue space.

Now, they have even more to offer with the new speakeasy through the back door. Oz, a 1920s-inspired spot, describes itself on Facebook like this:

“Tucked away in a corner of Auburn lies a hidden door, behind which only the curious may enter. Beyond het threshold lies Oz, an immersive speakeasy experience unlike any other.

With origins shrouded in mystery, Oz materialized in Auburn through a rare alignment of fate and circumstance. This opened the way for its noir-style incarnation as a speakeasy that pays homage to imagination and unique travels.”

This description, signed “The Man Behind The Curtain,” encapsulates the mysterious vibe of Oz.
