Birmingham-based boxing-inspired gym Battle Republic is opening its third location just 45 minutes from the founders’ hometown. Here’s what you need to know about Battle Republic Tuscaloosa.

Battle Republic’s new Tuscaloosa location

Get ready to glove up, Tuscaloosa. Battle Republic is opening soon. Here’s what you need to know:

This location hits close to home for founders Lindsey Miller Neal (CEO) and Leah Drury (CCO). Raised just 45 minutes away from Tuscaloosa in Greensboro, Neal and Drury both have deep roots in the T-town area.

In college, Drury earned a walk-on spot on the Crimson Tide’s women’s basketball team, becoming a standout player and earning the spot of team captain in both her junior and senior years. While excelling on the court, she also excelled in her exercise science studies.

Years later, she joined forces with Neal to open Battle Republic in Birmingham. After seeing success at their two locations there, Drury and Neal are excited to bring their concept to T-town.

What Battle Republic is all about

Combining boxing on the bag, high intensity interval training (HIIT) and strength training (and a top-notch playlist) for a sweaty 45-minute workout, Battle Republic has been a favorite of the Birmingham area for several years.

What keeps the community coming back? The neon lights (that change colors!), encouraging coaches, judgment-free atmosphere and fabulous playlist are some of the reasons. Plus, if you need to throw some punches at something, the 190-pound bag is a good way to get them out.

“The essence of Battle Republic is clear: it’s about you, not us.

No matter who you are—if it’s your first time working out or you’re an experienced athlete—come on in and get what you need. Come as you are. You be you.”

Lindsey Miller Neal, CEO, Battle Republic
